There are 2 award categories and the winner will be individuals who have displayed excellence or made significant contributions to their organisations, travel programmes, industry or ITM.
- Travel Buyer of the Year Award (Nominate)
This award will focus on the qualities, collaboration, and achievements an individual has demonstrated throughout a challenging time. We are looking for nominations which demonstrate the work buyers have done to adapt to the complex environment and collaborate internally and externally to support their travellers, business objectives and peers whilst continuing to champion the value of travel management.
Has the Buyer Nominee:
- Adapted - within their role or programme or aligned with changing business needs to add value and raise the profile of the travel function
- Gone above and beyond – demonstrated determination to tackle the challenge ahead and challenge the status quo within their policy
- Inspired or motivated others – in their team, organisation, or peers within the wider ITM Community – sharing insights and offering support.
A Sustainable Conference
At ITM we endeavour to work with like-minded venues and companies to ensure we are making all of our events more sustainable.
Direct ATPI
Worried about your carbon footprint at energise? We've partnered up with Direct ATPI to cover all delegate travel to our conference for 2023. Hilton
Travel with Purpose is Hilton's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy to drive responsible travel and tourism globally. Through Travel with Purpose, Hilton seeks to create positive environmental and social impact across their operations, supply chain, and communities.
Hilton is focused on paving the way towards a net-zero future and remains committed to helping minimize carbon footprints and redefine sustainable travel. Learn more at esg.hilton.com.
In regards to the food cycle and recycling, all food waste will go into a food processor. Please follow this link which explains the process and the benefits Food Waste Transformation | BioteCH4
Event Cycle
Centrepieces with Purpose
Working with Event Cycle, ITM selected an organisation that works to grow low-impact, local and vegan-grown flowers, half of which are dried on-site using natural processes rather than bleach and chemicals. These are then arranged with fresh flowers to produce low-carbon arrangements for weddings, parties and events.
Made for a Longer Life
Once the conference in April is complete the 50 centrepieces will go on to The Pines Care and Nursing Home Hove located less than a mile down the road from where the event is taking place. Making sure the flowers live on for as long as they can. The flowers will find their way into common spaces and resident bedrooms providing a cheery addition they wouldn’t normally have.
Prizes for Promoting Reuse
Tentshare is a peer-to-peer tent lending platform trying to tackle the problem of single-use tents and tent disposal at UK festivals. Looking for a way to reward users of the scheme in a sustainable way, Rebecca, Tentshare’s founder, is delighted to be able to make use of any leftover water bottles
“I would love to take these bottles please! I will use them as prizes for people when they list and rent their tents on the Tentshare platform. Increased listings and rentals mean increased carbon efficiency and less single-use tents"

We know that people’s requirements for meetings and events have changed rapidly over the past few years, and most noticeably since COVID. We have seen the reduction of office space and the rise in distributed teams, but still with a need for in-person connections, which has fueled a rapid growth in small team gatherings and meetings. However, most organizations are not prepared and still rely on slow manual servicing which is increasingly proving too costly and not fit for purpose. The purpose of the Simple Meetings Framework (SMF) session is to give you a step-by-step guide to develop a new digital first approach to the rapidly emerging simple and internal meetings segment. The framework was developed through hubli data, experience and knowledge, combined with the insight and wisdom of our clients and several industry experts, including independent global travel and meetings consultancy FESTIVE ROAD.

Wellness offerings by hotels has historically been spas, fitness experiences and amenities. While these continue to be important, a lot has changed recently in terms of traveller expectation. Today, there is not only a growing number of wellness-oriented travellers, but also an expanded definition of “wellness.” Not every traveller has the same interest in wellness. For some people, travel is about fully disengaging from everything, wellness included. This could mean time spent in a spa, maintaining a workout regimen on the road or more healthy meal choices. It may be as simple as appreciating a good night’s sleep or a great shower experience. The panel will discuss the importance of reducing the friction of maintaining healthy habits on the road, whether as a business traveller or a delegate attending a meeting. They will discuss a wider view of wellness, recent trends and share ways in which their organisations are

It can be difficult for businesses to know what the best way is to pay for their essential travel bookings, like flight & rail tickets, accommodation and ground transportation as well as meals and entertainment. To come to a decision, businesses require answers to some crucial questions, such as: How can I enable my employees to make business payments? How can I control this? How can I access data to drive business decisions? Should I pay centrally or let my employees make payments individually? How does the booking method (e.g. OBT, TMC) or content (LCC) impact those decisions? Join experts from Visa, Barclaycard and others in a conversation where we answer these questions. In addition, we will share our unique insights on creating the best payment experience to suit your business travel requirements.

Rail is the sustainability bullet versus other modes. With ESG being so prevalent in culture and business practices, shareholders are wanting to continue to see commitment to the cause and alignment from Corporates to wider government targets that have been set out and practices that are adhering to these objectives. With the ongoing review of travel policies, rail is required to feature higher as the dominant mode within principals and policies. Travellers themselves are making greener choices to not only support the planet, but to aid their own productivity and support their wellbeing. But how is the rail industry investing in business travellers to ensure that they are able to get from a to b (and return), being informed, provided with flexibility, feeling safe, being productive and doing the right thing?
