ITM Brings a Fresh Approach to Responsible Conferencing at SpringBoard

A dynamic fusion of innovation, sustainability, and social purpose takes centre stage at ITM’s Responsible Conference: SpringBoard. Initiatives such as human powered energy systems, social enterprise expo production, alongside a powerful programme of charitable and community focused activities, form the foundation of ITM’s annual Spring Conference in Brighton.
Celebrating choice and authenticity with a one-of-a-kind drag night, the SpringBoard Welcome Party empowers 6 delegates to become drag artists and open this years’ conference. Reminding us that belonging isn’t about fitting into a mould. ITM’s inclusive focus aims to help individuals feel recognised, valued and celebrated for who they are.
Addressing Local Challenges
Incorporating this participative theme, the conference agenda encourages delegates to make a difference via a range of ITM Cares activities and charitable donations. This year’s chosen beneficiary spans across 8 charities as part of Brighton and Hove’s Make Change Count initiative: addressing homelessness and vulnerability within the local area. Meaningful initiatives include, creating rough sleeper packs as part of the ITM Cares Mission and participating in a charity choir established to support those find stability in moments of crisis.
Driving Purpose Beyond the Event
Focusing on human impact, the expo production also supports individuals affected by homelessness via its partnership with social enterprise, Stitch powered by Connection Crew. An ethically sourced production company who creates employment and career pathways for people who face barriers to work.
Investing in Future Talent
Nurturing the next generation of live events professionals, ITM’s collaboration with The Production Department continues to give opportunities to young people via hands-on training, mentoring, and skills development on site.
Celebrating Nature and Sustainability
In line with its responsible ethos, the conference will feature locally inspired wildflower centerpieces, reflecting the natural beauty of Sussex’s coastal landscapes. Created in collaboration with youth groups and rewilding initiatives, Gala Dinner arrangements will be sustainably sourced and designed for reuse or replanting after the event. Seed paper information cards will further extend the environmental message, allowing delegates to take a piece of the initiative home.
Through partnerships, storytelling, and participation, the event aims to raise awareness and drive positive change across a number of key messages.
Showcasing how sustainable energy can be engaging, educational, and impactful, phone charging ElectricPedals will also be available to all delegates. This is coupled with the venue hotel’s eco-certified electricity already sourced from 100% renewable resources, and with zero waste being sent to landfill.
Plus, helping to make every journey count, Direct Travel will offset delegate travel through carbon reduction projects in India and Ghana. Helping to deliver further touchpoints for a truly holistic approach.
A Collective Effort for Change
By combining meaningful social and environmental initiatives, the Responsible Conference demonstrates how events can go beyond engagement to deliver lasting impact - reflecting ITM’s 70-year commitment to supporting the business travel industry.
From generating electricity through movement to supporting vulnerable communities and restoring local ecosystems, every element of the event is designed to echo ITM’s core values to connect, inform, educate and inspire. Proving that even small contributions, when powered collectively, can create significant change.
